MTTC Cultural Studies Test Study Guide

Michigan Department of Education administers MTTC Cultural Studies Test to grant certification to the eligible candidates. After getting this certification, candidate gets the permission to teach in Michigan State as an Educator. Candidate needs to appear in MTTC Basic Skills Exam with subject oriented testing while applying for elementary or secondary certification. MTTC Basic Skills Exam tests the candidates competency in the three basic fields of knowledge that are:-

• Reading
• Writing
• Mathematics

Candidate should clear all the three subtests to get the certification. Michigan Tests for Teacher Certification is available on paper as well as on computer. Candidate can choose any of the format according to his convenience.

Eligibility for MTTC Cultural Studies Test

To appear for MTTC Cultural Studies Test, candidate should meet all the eligibility conditions listed by the education board:-

• Candidate should hold a bachelor degree from state/national university.
• Candidate should have specialization in the field from state approved college and university
• Candidate should be minimum 21 years of age

For out of state candidates, three years experience is required to get the MTTC certification. Candidate having other state certification is liable to get the one year non renewable certification from MTTC board.

Format of MTTC Cultural Studies Test

MTTC Cultural Studies Test includes multiple choice questions. Scoring of MTTC Cultural Studies Test is done on the scale of 300, out of which 220 are the minimum marks required to get the certification. The total duration for completing the exam is four and one half hour. If the candidate falls short of the marks in the exam, then candidate is liable to appear again in the exam after the certain period of time.

MTTC Basic Skills Exam includes objective and subjective questions. There are 85 multiple choice questions in reading and mathematics section and one subjective question in writing section.
