MTTC Biology Test Study Guide
MTTC Biology Exam is administered by Michigan Education Department to grant certification to eligible candidates. After getting this certification candidate gets the permission to teach biology in Michigan State.
Michigan Test for Teacher Certification is available on paper pen format and on computer format. For elementary and secondary certification candidate also needs to take MTTC Basic Skills Exam apart from the subject oriented exam. In case, if the candidate falls short of the marks in either of the exam then he is liable to reappear in the same exam after certain period of time.
Eligibility for MTTC Biology Exam
To appear for MTTC Biology Exam, candidate needs to meet following requirements of the education board:-
- Candidate should be atleast 21 years of age
- Candidate should have bachelor degree from state approved college.
- Candidate should have specialization in the subject he is aspiring to teach
If the candidate has the certification from another state then also he is eligible to teach in Michigan State. Candidate is liable to get one year non renewable certification if he/she lacks experience in teaching. However after the expiration candidate needs to appear for the appropriate subject proficiency test.
Format of MTTC Biology Exam
The exam include questions from the following topics:-
- Fundamentals of biology principles, concepts, terms of subject etc.
- Cell structure and functions theory of cell system, chemical reactions & components in cell etc
- Heredity genetics, molecular cell structure, ancient life structure etc.
- Organization of life various systems in organisms etc.
The above mentioned topics are important for the candidate to study. Scoring of MTTC Biology Exam is done on the scale of 300, out of which 220 are the minimum marks required to get the certification. The total duration for completing the exam is four and a half hour. Apart from MTTC Biology Exam, candidate also needs to appear in MTTC Basic Skills Exam to get the certification. MTTC Basic Skills Exam includes three sections:-
- Reading
- Writing
- Mathematics
There are 85 multiple choice questions in reading and mathematics section. Writing section includes one constructive response query to be written concisely and creatively.
