MTTC Chemistry Test Study Guide
MTTC Chemistry Test is conducted by Michigan Department of Education to grant certification to eligible candidates. Michigan Test for Teacher Certification assesses the candidates competency and proficiency in the subject. Candidate needs to appear in MTTC Basic Skills Exam if applying for elementary and secondary certification. MTTC Basic Skills Exam tests the candidates efficiency and basic knowledge in core subjects.
Eligibility for MTTC Chemistry Test
To appear for MTTC Chemistry Test, applicant should have bachelor degree from state/national university. Applicant should have mastery in the subject from state/national university. The age bar for MTTC applicant is 21 years. For out of state candidates, three years teaching experience is required to get this certification.
Candidate should meet all the above conditions to get eligible for appearing in MTTC Chemistry Test.
Format of MTTC Chemistry Test
The exam consists of questions from the following topics:-
- Foundations of chemistry as a subject principles, procedures, relationships between various disciplines and chemistry etc.
- Inorganic chemistry nomenclature of chemical compounds, chemical bonding, atomic structure, stoichiometry, reaction rate etc.
- Physical chemistry thermodynamics, molecular theory, solvent and solution etc.
- Organic chemistry naming organic compounds, structural design of bimolecular compounds etc.
The above mentioned topics are very important from examination point of view. Hence candidate should study these topics nicely to get good marks in the exam. Scoring of MTTC Chemistry Test is done on the scale of 300, out of which 220 are the minimum marks required to get the certification.
MTTC Basic Skills Exam is another assessment which a candidate needs to pass to appear for MTTC Chemistry Test. MTTC Basic Skills Exam includes three sections:-
- Reading
- Writing
- Mathematics
Reading and mathematics section includes 85 multiple choice questions and writing includes one subjective question. Candidate should pass in all the three sections to get the certification. If the candidate falls short of the marks in MTTC Chemistry Test then candidate is liable to appear again in the same after certain period of time.
