TExES Generalist Exam Study Guide


State Board for Educator Certification is the board which conducts examination under TExES for giving credentials to the eligible candidates. Eligibility for TExES Generalist Exam


Candidate to become eligible for the TExES Generalist Exam should fulfill all the eligibility conditions and educational qualifications listed by the board. An applicant should hold a certificate degree and AGCA teaching certificate. This certification should be verified and processed by the SBEC board. Rest the candidates actual eligibility for the certification is tested by TExES Generalist Exam resultant score.

Format of TExES Generalist Exam


Since a generalist teachers knowledge should not be demarcated by any hindrance, hence the syllabus varies to a wide extent. Topics to be covered in TEXES Generalist Exam are from English language and reading arts, mathematics, science, social science, arts and physical education. English language includes phonemic awareness, literal and word building etc. Mathematics includes geometry, algebra probability etc. Science includes matter and energy, life and earth sciences etc. Social science includes technology and society, civic sense, working of government etc. All the questions are multiple choices hence four options are provided for each question. The number of questions can vary but it is near about 140, out of which 125 are scored and rest are unscored. There is no negative marking for the incorrect answer hence candidate should try to answer maximum questions to score more. The entire score of the candidate is converted on the scale of 300, out of which 240 is the minimum marks required for getting the certification.
