TABE- It is the most comprehensive and academic assessment or diagnostic tool used to determine candidates' skill level and aptitude. Syllabus for the TABE Exam

The exam is used by many trade schools, colleges, technical schools to have an idea of what level of academic challenge you are willing to face. The syllabus for the TABE exam covers the following subject areas-

  • Reading
  • It covers vocabulary and reading comprehension.
  • Language
  • It covers spelling, punctuation, grammar, sentence, and paragraph structuring.
  • Maths computation
  • It covers pre-algebra, basic maths, fractions, percentages, and decimal systems.
  • Applied Maths
  • There are two sections of mathematics on the TABE exam, Math Computation, and Applied Maths. Candidates are allowed to use a calculator only on the applied maths section of the exam.

    The exam offers 5 levels of assessment covering topics from K-12 content areas-

    • Level L (K-1)
    • Level E (2-3)
    • Level M (4-6)
    • Level D (7-8)
    • Level A (9-12)

    Format for the TABE Exam

    It is a computer-administered test and the allotted time to complete the test is approximately 1.5 hours. The complete battery test when undertaken takes 3 hours. The exam includes 195 MCQ-based questions.

    How to Apply for TABE Exam?

    All TABE Exams are applied and conducted through appointment only. To take the exam, candidates must check the desired testing location and testing time to schedule the appointment.

    Candidates are required to bring a valid ID during the exam. It can be any state-issued ID, passport, or any other government ID. Testing candidates are only allowed at the testing center.

    There are no fees for the students who are currently enrolled in the career or are undergoing the technical certificate course. The fee for the nonstudents is USD 20.

    If candidates need to retake the TABE test then they may be retested 6 weeks after the initial administration using an alternate form. All examinees are required to wait for 6 months before retaking the test.

    All the exams are administered in a safe and secure testing environment monitored by the testing center staff. All kinds of electronic items are prohibited during the exam.
