Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination MPRE Test Preparation Study Guide
The Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination is maintained and administered by the ACT inc, on behalf of the National Conference of Bar Examiners (NCBE). The purpose of MPRE examination is to check whether the applicant has the knowledge and understanding of established standards of a lawyer's conduct. The exam is conducted thrice a year in March, August and November.
Format Of The Multistate Professional Responsibility Examination:
The MPRE is offered in multiple-choice format. It consists of 60 questions of which 50 are scored while 10 are pretest items. As the pretest questions cannot be distinguished from the scored the scored questions, it is essential that the candidate attempts all the questions. He questions in the examination include the following content areas:
I. Regulation of the Legal Profession (612%)
II. The Client-Lawyer Relationship (1016%)
III. Client Confidentiality (612%)
IV. Conflicts of Interest (1218%)
V. Competence, Legal Malpractice, and Other Civil Liability (612%)
VI. Litigation and Other Forms of Advocacy (1016%)
VII. Transactions and Communications with Persons Other than Clients (28%)
VIII. Different Roles of the Lawyer (410%)
IX. Safekeeping Funds and Other Property (28%)
X. Communications about Legal Services (410%)
XI. Lawyers Duties to the Public and the Legal System (24%)
XII. Judicial Conduct (28%)
Other than the test questions the candidates are given a set of 10 Test Centre Review questions that ask for the candidates views onthe testing conditions and other aspects of the testing process.
