NDRT - Nelson-Denny Reading Test Study Guide


The Nelson-Denny Reading Test ever since its origin in 1929 has become one of the most widely-adopted measures of reading comprehension. It is not an admission test but it is commonly used as a tool to identify students who face difficulty with reading, to gauge levels of progress after remediation and to predict their potential for academic success. The NDRT test measure the student's reading rate per minute. It also measures their knowledge with vocabulary, and skills with attending to comprehension passages.

THE NDRT Study Guide and Exam Content


The Nelson Denny Reading test is not a very long test and usually lasts for around forty five minutes. The NDRT Test has two subsets

First subset includes the vocabulary questions. This is a multiple choice question paper. The NDRT vocabulary section includes words drawn from high school and college textbooks.  

The second subtlest is reading comprehension where the examinees are required to read the short passages derived from the high school and college level text books and the candidates are required to answer the multiple choice questions.
