FTCE Exceptional Student Education K-12 Exam Study Guide


Students who have disabilities and are differently able need some extra assistance from the one who can understand them. The educators who look after them are tested on the basis of their capabilities and efficiencies. Florida Department of Education conducts Florida Teacher Certification Examination to grant certification to the eligible candidates. Candidate has to appear for FTCE Exceptional Student Exam to prove his eligibilities and competencies. Candidate has two options to opt for certification. Either he can go with professional certification or temporary certification. Professional certification is the one through which candidate gains the credentials for the period of five years whereas temporary certification is valid for the period of three academic years. After this period candidate has to go for professional certification.

Eligibility for FTCE Exceptional Student Exam


Florida Department of Education Board lists some eligibility conditions for the candidate to appear for FTCE Exceptional Student Exam. Candidate has to fulfill following criteria:-

  • Bachelor degree (needed for both professional and temporary certification)
  • Specialization in the subject (applicable only for professional certification)
  • 2.5 GPA in the subject (applicable only for temporary certification)
  • Finger prints report (required for both professional and temporary certification)
  • Candidate should keep in mind that professional certification needs renewal after a period of five years. Candidate has to reapply after this period for upgrading the certification.

Format of FTCE Exceptional Student Exam


FTCE Exceptional Student Exam includes vital headings that determine the capability of the candidate to handle students who are differently able. Curriculum covered in FTCE Exceptional Student Exam is derived from broad spectrum of practical period. Following are the topics that are important from examination point of view:-

There are nearly 120 multiple questions covered in the exam. The total duration for completing the exam is 150 minutes.
